Hanuman Jayanti is one of the auspicious festivals of
Hindus. It’s marked as Birth Anniversary of Lord Hanuman. As per Hindu calendar
Hanuman Jayanti falls in full moon night of Chaitra Month and as per Gregorian
calendar, it’s celebrated in April month. However, some parts of India
celebrate it on different dates. Lord Hanuman was eleventh incarnation of Lord
Shiva. He was a great devotee of Lord Rama. His loyalty and love towards Lord
Rama are describe in Ramayana. He’s famous as as ‘Monkey God’. Her mother was
Princess Anjana and his father was Kapiraj Kesari. Some Hindu countries like
Nepal also commemorate it. Lord Hanuman is also called Pavanputra Hanuman,
KesariNandan, Bajarangbali, Maruti, etc. Lord Hanuman was born on Anjaneri
Mountain. His mother prayed for 12 years to Lord Shiva for
the birth of a child. It is said that Lord Hanuman is a reflection of Lord
Shiva. Lord Hanuman was a great follower of Lord Rama and he helped him to
victory over Lanka. He is one of the great deities. His birth was a great pride
for Bharat Bhumi. In the South Indian States, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated as
Dhanu. On this day various events are observed across the nation. People
perform prayer and visit temples.
The Hanuman Bhakt visit temples early in the morning and
perform prayer rituals. People apply Tilak on their foreheads and worship Lord
Hanuman as idols and have fasted.
Significance
Lord Hanuman is a source of immense wisdom, power and he is
called ‘Sakamoto’(as he protects humankind from all the fear). For paying our
devotion towards great Hindu deity we celebrate Hanuman Jayanti. It signifies
the birth of great Hindu deity and people visits temples and prays for their
wellness. People pray and organize puja rituals at their home.
People wait for this fest for the whole year. They visit
temples after the sunrise as Lord Hanuman was born after sunrise. The flower
decoration of temples is the best part of this fest.
Lord Hanuman is a symbol of strength and divine energy.
People chant Hanuman Chalisa, Sundarkand, and other mantras on this day. Lord
Hanuman is worshipped as a divinity that is capable to conquer evil and all the
fears present in society.
